To mark its 15th anniversary, Japanese brand NEIGHBORHOOD engaged in a special 15 t-shirt project. With the Series 1 offerings releasing this month, the heavy-hitters have aligned for Series 2. Sharing a love of vintage muscle in the form of both motorbikes and muscle cars, newly launched CHALLENGER and NEIGHBORHOOD has partnered up to release a capsule of new products. Under the theme of “Danger”, the two brands has created items including tees, long sleeve shirts and hats. The products will be available soon at the NEIGHBORHOOD store, the CHALLENGER store as well as the Honeyee store.
OriginalFake once again teams up with Levi’s on two models of denim, the Model Jeans and the Model Cargo Pants. Both models feature details including the iconic KAWS Teeth pattern on the back pocket as well as on the inner lining. Available soon at OriginalFake and the Levi’s E-Shop.
Hong Kong brand CLOT begins the unveiling of their 2009 spring/summer “CLOTone” collection this month. While they took a decidedly more serious tone to their collection with last season’s CS Army, the CLOTone drop is little more casual and fun as they switch things up with five mini-capsules within the overall encompassing collection. Colors and themes associated with Earth, Power, Playful, Pure and Dark were chosen based on assumed extensions of every person. Some of the pieces include various t-shirts, shorts, jackets and accessories. Available towards the end of April both online and at JUICE.
British music group UNKLE has put together a selection of works to represent and enhance the upcoming 2009 autumn/winter collection for Alexander McQueen’s McQ collection. Coming in CD-form, the package features a clean envelope packaging with the use of UNKLE’s skull theme on the mix CD itself.
Sneakers n’ Stuff offer a glimpse into the 2009 fall/winter collection of Originals by Originals as designed by Kazuki Kuraishi. The collection continues very much on the technical and performance tip with a special sub-collection seen within the release as well involving NEIGHBORHOOD. The outerwear looks to be some serious business as well as the re-appropriation of the NBHD logo to feature a Trefoil crown. Interestingly enough, Kazuki also looks to take a page out of Jeremy Scott’s books with the liberal use of leopard prints. We’re definitely looking forward to more looks down the line.
Visvim unveils their latest FBT release this season with the colorful FBT Lattice. The flagship shoe of the brand, the moccasin style in both traditional and hybrid-like sneaker form has exploded in popularity however few will touch Visvim’s un-matched quality. We anticipate a full range of colors for the FBT Lattice much like the Logan releases of earlier this season. Available at FIL locations starting today, Thursday, April 16th.
Paying homage to baseball icon Jackie Robinson, Nike works up a new pack of Blazer Hi’s featuring the colors that have become synonymous with the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers since their inception into the National League in 1890. Most widely recognized for his roles as a superstar player as well as breaking the color barrier within Major League Baseball, Jackie remains a cultural legend within the world of sports and civil rights alike. This new collection, in his honor, boasts the trademark Brooklyn logo on each tongue as well the traditional Brooklyn “B” emblazoned in an all-over Diamond print format. All three colorways, including a red canvas, royal nubuck, and grey suede, are now available at select Nike retailers including Proper.
Celebrating its 1st anniversary earlier this month, the lone HOODS store out of Japan which features both NEIGHBORHOOD and WTAPS collections celebrates the event with a special commemorative capsule. The collection includes t-shirts, bandanna’s and two mesh fitted caps; each taking on a simple and trademark NEIGHBORHOOD meets WTAPS aesthetic. Keeping in tune with their recent usage of animal prints throughout the various Porter lines, Head Porter Plus unveils new items for Spring/Summer. Taking a more subtle approach, the brand develops a collection of safari-style button-downs in earth tone colorways. Alongside the knits are a selection of t-shirts featuring animal prints as well. WTAPS releases a new pair of their No. 5 LAMF denim. The jeans feature a black denim body with various distressed details. An addition to this release is the use of paint drips throughout the front and back as well as LAMF patches on the knee and back pocket area. Available now through Cliff Edge.
NEIGHBORHOOD are in the midst of releasing a new project with American skater, bike-builder, artist and all-around badass Jason Jesse. Seen as a popular cultural icon in Japan, NEIGHBORHOOD’s roots as a bike-inspired brand bode well with Jesse’s own outlaw mentality. The Levi’s Fenom releases are coming fast and furious this month as just days after seeing a drop of their Washed Saddle Stitch Denim, the latest features the Gold Metal DISCO Decoration style. The jeans feature gold studs throughout in addition to gold zippers and keychain fobs. Available in both the 207 and 505 cuts over at e-levi.jp.
The trademark cartoon character letter style of KAWS has seen itself at the center of various high-powered collaborations in the past including the likes of colette, CLOT and NY Mag. This time around KAWS’ brand Original Fake appropriate it for themselves with a simple yet instantly recognizable print on their latest series of tees which have already hit select retailers.
Having already seen fragment design produce gadget accessories, most notably their collabo iPhone case with Incase, this newest venture stays within their bounds of simplicity, functionality, and creativity. Made to clean anything with a lens, most notably a camera, Hiroshi Fujiwara previews a set of hand-held cleaners made of neoprene and stamped with fragment design logos in three colorways. There is no concrete information regarding a release as of yet, so stay tuned.
The latest edition of Shoes Master not only features the highly anticipated Supreme x Nike SB Bruins but also a special look into the CLOTONE Spring/Summer 2009 Collection and interview alongside Edison Chen. The collection is due to launch in April 2009 while Shoe Master Vol. 11 is now available at select accounts in Japan but check your local import book store if you’re outside of Japan.
Joining a number of different NEIGHBORHOOD-relevant updates today is the capsule of items created by iconic artist Pushead. The collection’s focus is on a graphic combining Pushead’s familiar skull set against an eagle motif. A jacket, t-shirt and sticker set all bear this particular graphic.
The OriginalFake x NEIGHBORHOOD collaboration continues on into April with a new series of graphic tees. Not to be outdone, the collection also yields two denim styles in a clean raw wash. The imagery on the denim is visible via the back pockets while the tees continue on a mostly NEIGHBORHOOD-esque style.
An update into NEIGHBORHOOD’s 2009 1st Ex. Series “Holidays in the Sun” Collection is seen here. The brand offers a multitude of styles this time around including vests, jackets and button-ups to go alongside their trademark distressed denim. The injection of color is subtle but visible as the usual dark/muted colorways are complimented by the EL MEX. / C.CREW as well as woven straw hats. Look for these to hit select retailers in the coming weeks.

Steering away from their previous STF-style releases, Levi’s Fenom drops two new colorways in their purple Amethyst disco denim which proved to be such a hot item back in 2008. This time around the Hiroshi Fujiwara-headed line features a distressed/washed finish adorned with similar Amethyst detailing. Both a 505 and 207 fit are now live via the Levi’s Japan e-shop.
Having already seen various bag styles alongside Tokyo-based design firm NGAP, Jun Takahashi’s Undercover unveil a full fledged collection with NGAP. The line consists of more bag styles, apparel, and accessories in the brand’s usual avant-garde nature. This new collection will become available via the Undercover flagship store in Hong Kong.
To further compliment the Air Jordan 1 Hare we saw yesterday, the Jordan camp previews a secondary colorway in a girl-friendly light brown and shy pink offering. Although the kicks seen yesterday are scheduled to release in adult sizes, this new unveiling will remain a childrens release in grade school sizes. Look for both to releases mid-April at Jordan accounts nationwide.
In one of the most highly anticipated collection releases this season, the ultra-popular KAWS and his OriginalFake label team-up with Japanese cult-brand Neighborhood on a collection of products. With the use of dark tones reflective of NEIGHBORHOOD’s own style, leave it to OriginalFake to heighten the collection via some subtle signature touches including the ‘X X’ eyes and Chomper pattern. Select retailers such as Taipei’s Invincible will release the collection this Saturday, March 28th.
Following-up with their recent book publication Sneaker Tokyo, Shoes Master continues onward with their regularly scheduled programming as we see a preview of their upcoming Vol. 11 issue. The front cover includes an initial glimpse into an upcoming Supreme x Nike SB collaboration.
